Coach Jamahl Mosley Provides Reassuring Update on Magic Center Wendell Carter Jr.
The Orlando Magic has had to deal with its fair share of injuries so far this season, as many of its key contributors have been sidelined for various reasons. But perhaps the most notable so far this season has been center Wendell Carter Jr.
The big man missed 20 games as a result of a hand injury that required surgery that he suffered in the late stages of a game against the Utah Jazz back at the beginning of the season. So when Carter Jr. popped up on the injury report ahead of the Magic's recent win against the New York Knicks on Friday, fans were obviously a bit frightened. But coach Jamahl Mosley provided a calming report on the big man's status in his postgame conference.
"Going through his his early warm up, that knee flared up so it's just that knee tendinitis," Mosley said.
Magic Remaining Schedule Among NBA's Easiest?
The fact that Carter Jr.'s absence from the game was not due to his lingering hand injury is a good sign for the Magic, as he should be day-to-day at the worst, and the team could have him back as early as its next game. Even though scoring isn't something Carter Jr. usually does in bunches, he impacts just about every other facet of the game, so having him back consistently will be a blessing for the team.
Carter Jr. and the rest of the Magic will be back in action tomorrow against the Phoenix Suns and their big three. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. ET from the Footprint Center.
