'He's a Machine!': Magic Coach Jamahl Mosley Praises Caleb Houstan After Career Night

The Orlando Magic debuted a new starting lineup in it's last game against the Atlanta Hawks, and it features second-year guard Caleb Houston, who had a career night.

The Orlando Magic won its second game in a row on Sunday against the Atlanta Hawks, and it was due in no small part to some fantastic play from Caleb Houstan in the staring lineup.

The Magic debuted a new starting lineup that saw Houstan starting for the first time this season and the fifth time in his young career. He stepped up big for the Magic, as he finished with a career-high 25 points and made seven threes. Coach Jamahl Mosley talked more about Houstan in his postgame interview.

“Caleb {Houstan} is a machine," Mosley said. "I mean it, I laugh and joke with him everyday that he’s in that gym that he is a machine. He’s the first one in and the last one out. He’s not taking days off. Even when you tell him to take a day off, he’s not taking a day off. He’s working his tail off night in and night out to do the right thing. And he’s someone that we’ve talked about that you know he’s going to be on the floor both offensively and defensively. Because he studies, he works, and the coaches do a phenomenal job of keeping him ready.”

The Magic selected Houstan with the No. 32 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, and up until this point, he had been mainly an off the bench guy. But if he can keep working and be consistent for the team, he could be yet another young piece for the Magic to mold. Houstan talked more about the game he had in his postgame conference.

"It was fun," Houstan said. "I think we all played well. Obviously, a big win with a lot of guys out, but I mean, it’s next man up. We talk about that a lot. It’s just a lot of fun being out there and playing with the guys.”

Houstan and the rest of the Magic will be back in action on Tuesday against Anthony Edwards and the top-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET from the Kia Center.
