Orlando Magic SG Joe Ingles 'Invaluable', Says Jamahl Mosley

Joe Ingles has been in the league for a long time, and he is now embracing his new veteran role with the Orlando Magic.
In this story:

Over the course of his long career, Joe Ingles has been one of the most consistent shooters that this league has seen, and that is so valuable to any NBA team.

In his career, he has averaged 8.4 points per game while shooting an incredible 40 percent from distance over a long span. That career 3-point percentage puts him not that far behind who most consider the best shooter of all time, Stephen Curry.

Now with the Orlando Magic, Ingles is taking on a different role than he has had before, as he is not doing as much scoring as he has in the past. He is only averaging 2.6 points per game so far this season, but it's his leadership that makes him so important to the Magic. Head coach Jamahl Mosley elaborated more on how valuable Ingles is to the team in his postgame interview on Saturday.

"He's lived through winning," Mosley said. "He's been part of big winning, and he's been part where he may have played or not played but he's willing to tell these guys everything, the truth about this league and what they need to do to be able to have a measure of success. And that's invaluable for a team of guys that are continuing to grow and get better and need to understand what it takes to win in this league."

With a roster as young as the Magic has, you're going to need a guy who can show them the ropes, and that is exactly what Mosley hopes that Ingles will be able to do this season. His play on the court is an added bonus, but his value off the court seems to be just as important.

Ingles and the rest of the Magic will be back in action on Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets in the team's first taste of NBA In-Season Tournament action. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET from the Barclays Center.
