NBA Free Agency: Bucks' Joe Ingles to Magic?

With NBA free agency on the horizon, will the Orlando Magic target Milwaukee Bucks veteran sharpshooter Joe Ingles?
In this story:

ORLANDO- Just hours away from NBA free agents being able to officially negotiate new contracts, one veteran that Orlando Magic fans should keep their eye on is forward Joe Ingles.

Known for his shooting, Ingles has shot 40 percent from three-point range in his career and would help the Magic with its spacing, a legitimate concern considering that point guard of the future Anthony Black and face of the franchise, Paolo Banchero, aren’t known for their shooting.

“Orlando has indicated it is not going to be a big spender with the team’s $21.9 million in cap space,” Yahoo Sports said. “One possible addition for Orlando: versatile veteran Joe Ingles, sources said, who could join the Magic at a dollar figure above the minimum.”

Getting a 35-year-old veteran with years of playoff experience at roughly a league-minimum contract could help establish a culture amongst Orlando’s young core. While many fans were upset at the team’s decision to pass on Gradey Dick in the draft, the Magic front office could save face by bringing in another premier outside threat in Ingles.

Although known for his deep shooting, only crediting Ingles’ impact on the court as an outside threat is doing him a disservice. The veteran can shoot from anywhere. Last season with the Milwaukee Bucks, Ingles recorded the third-highest effective field goal percentage of his career, shooting over 60 percent while averaging roughly three assists and rebounds in 23 minutes per game.

If Ingles does indeed join the Magic next season, expect the young roster to learn from veteran leadership and hopefully take him to the playoffs for the seventh time in his career.
