Orlando Magic 'Scouting for Individual Players' vs. New-Look Houston Rockets
The NBA regular season is back, and with that, it's time for the Orlando Magic to learn about all of the new additions that each team has made.
This process will begin on Wednesday as the Magic will be taking on a team who has changed quite a bit this offseason, the Houston Rockets. With all of the new additions to the Rockets' roster, they will be a much different team to play against as a result, and Cole Anthony talked more about that at Magic practice on Tuesday.
"I just think we'll probably just scout for individual players," Anthony said. "We know what Fred VanVleet can do. We know what Dillon Brooks brings to the table. We know about two dudes they've had there already. And it'll be a great challenge. They're a really talented team and I'm excited to play them."
With how much the NBA has changed this past offseason, this same approach might have to be used by the Magic again in order to learn more about how the new players on each team integrate into the system. Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley weighed in on this as well at practice.
"In any game plan, you want to make sure that you know, the personnel you know, in and out because there's going to be times you change the way in which you do things defensively," Mosley said. "Depending on who that person is and being able to scout them in the preseason, and in years past, and in the draft is huge because you know tendencies so you can relay that message right away to our guys."
The Magic will be in action tonight against the Houston Rockets at home in the Amway Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
