Top NBA Wings Under 25: Magic's Banchero And Wagner Have Highest Ceiling?
ORLANDO - The Orlando Magic possesses one of the best young wing tandems in the NBA with Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
Exactly how good are they?
Bleacher Report ranked the top wings under 25-year-old with the highest ceiling, and Banchero led the pack at No. 1. Wagner wasn't too far behind him, as he was No. 3.
Banchero being ranked No. 1 isn't much of a shock after he put up one of the best rookie seasons in NBA history. He averaged 20 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Banchero was the first rookie to average 20 points, five rebounds and five assists since 2003 when LeBron James accomplished the feat.
"If he approaches his peak, he could be a scoring champion who posts top-20 (or better) marks in rebounds and assists while playing competent (or better) defense," Bleacher Report writes. "His ceiling features nothing less than multiple All-NBA honors and MVP consideration."
For Wagner, his ability to do it all on both sides of the ball is what had him ranked so highly. He also showed growth from his rookie year, improving in points (18.6) and assists (3.5) per game.
"It's possible he'll never reach superstardom, but his All-Star chances look better than any outside of our top two," Bleacher Report writes. "The modern NBA is all about versatility, and Wagner brings gobs of it to both sides of the floor."
With Banchero and Wagner being two of the best wings in the NBA, it's easy to see why Orlando is viewed as having one of the best young cores in the sport. If they can reach their full potential, there's no telling what the Magic's ceiling is.
