ORLANDO - There may just be a few games left in the season, but that didn't stop the Orlando Magic from making a small transaction, signing Jay Scrubb to a two-way deal.

Scrubb, 22, has been tearing it up in the G League this season, averaging 22.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game this season with Lakeland.

The Magic had a two-way spot available after signing Admiral Schofield to a standard four-year deal last month.

Orlando holds a 31-43 record with eight games to go, but still has a small shot at making the play-in tournament with just four games separating the team from the No. 10-seeded Chicago Bulls. This has the Magic towing the line between trying to contend and trying to jockey for better draft positioning.

Should the Magic be eliminated from playoff contention at any point before the end of the regular season, it's possible that Scrubb could make his Orlando debut. However, it likely won't result in Scrubb playing very much.

Scrubb is no stranger to the NBA, playing 22 games with the Los Angeles Clippers in his first two professional seasons.

His two-way contract with the Magic lasts until next season, meaning Scrubb should have a chance to crack into some minutes with the team in Orlando in 2023-24 while continuing his development in Lakeland.
