Magic Vet Joe Ingles Provides 'Steady Hand' on Court

Orlando Magic forward Joe Ingles will provide a key presence both on and off the court.
In this story:

The Orlando Magic made a move to sign Joe Ingles this offseason, and while it may have been a slight overpay compared to his other potential offers, it could pay off long-term.

While Ingles won't be the best player on the court, what he provides to the younger guys can't be overstated. They need a calming presence to keep them grounded and get through to them when the coaching staff can't

"The only real move the Magic made this summer was adding Joe Ingles on a two-year, $22 million deal, as they look to bring a veteran presence to a very young locker room," UPROXX writes. "It’s more money than Ingles was going to get elsewhere, but on a short-term deal it’s a price Orlando is happy to pay to bring in someone who has been on very good teams in the past and can help bring along some of the youngsters — while also being a steady hand on the court."

Having a veteran is always incredibly important for young teams in the locker room, but his on court fit will be an underrated aspect of the pairing.

Ingles is a floor-spacer, and has been for some time now. That would benefit quite literally any team in the NBA. However, his playmaking and ability to play a connector role makes his veteran presence even better.

UPROXX described him as a "steady hand," which is the perfect way to describe his potential impact. As a player who will keep the floor open for the young guys to work, his ability to keep the ball moving and guide the offense is the exact reason he'll provide a steady hand.

The Magic will be a team to watch for regular NBA fans, as they'll have an entertaining offense to watch with plenty of young, up-and-coming talent and Ingles plays into those players being more watchable early on.
