Inside Magic's Wendell Carter Jr. & Franz Wagner's 'Really Good Connection'
Wendell Carter Jr. is finally back from his injury that he sustained against the Utah Jazz back in November. Now that he's back, it seems like Carter Jr. is glad to have his teammates back.
Late in the second half of the Orlando Magic's most recent game against the Phoenix Suns, Magic forward Franz Wagner threw a lob to Carter Jr. The big man says that this was no surprise, as his connection with Wagner has always been good. He talked more about it in an interview at shoot-around yesterday.
"Ever since Franz came to Orlando we’ve had a really good connection, he always found me a lot in the lobs," Carter Jr. said. "Us just being back out there together, I knew it was going to take some time, we're starting to get that swag and that feel back... It was pretty refreshing to finish a lob from Franz, so I think there's going to be more of that this season."
Magic Stars Banchero & Wagner 'Elite Offensive Players', Says Suns Coach Vogel
Whenever Wagner was drafted by the Magic in the 2021 NBA Draft with the eighth pick, Carter Jr.'s points per game average immediately jumped from 11.7 to 15. While this may not come directly as a result from Wagner, it can't all be a coincidence. If this chemistry continues, the Magic could be adding yet another weapon to its already impressive arsenal.
Carter Jr., Wagner, and the rest of the Magic will be back in action tonight against the Sacramento Kings. Tipoff is set for 10 p.m. ET in the Golden1 Center.
