Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Speaks on Mark Cuban Sale: Will Be ‘In Best Interest’ of Mavs Fans
For many years, Dallas Cowboys' Jerry Jones has been the richest professional sports team owner in the state of Texas, but that is about to change with Mark Cuban being in the final stages of selling a majority stake of the Dallas Mavericks to Miriam Adelson. Jones has a net worth of a little more than $14 billion, where Adelson's is at $32 billion – and for context, Cuban, as wealthy as he is, is a good step below both of them at $6.2 billon.
Mavs ownership having deeper pockets for the foreseeable future is a good thing, and on Friday, Jones gave his thoughts on Cuban's decision to sell a majority stake of his team.
"As far as the decision Mark made, I’ll go along with his decisions anytime," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. "He knows how to make good ones, he’s made them and has a great story of his career doing what he’s done. He didn’t do that being dumb. I promise you, this will be in the best interest, in my mind, of sports and the Maverick fans."
Jones also gave his thoughts on the Adelson family, calling them 'fine people' who will 'do a great job' going forward.

“They’re fine people,” Jones said. “She’s outstanding. She’s a doctor, she came from Israel as an adult, is savvy, savvy, savvy. And she’s got a good organization with her there and will unquestionably do a great job."
Although Cuban is no longer the majority owner of the Mavs, he's pocketing $3.5 billion while also reportedly still being expected to be hands on with the team. That's a pretty sweet deal for Cuban in our opinion, and Jones feels the same way.
