Fan Poll Report Card: Grades for Mavs' Offseason Trades, Free Agency

The Dallas Mavericks have had one of their best offseasons in recent memory, so DallasBasketball.com polled Mavs fans to see what grades they'd give Mark Cuban, Nico Harrison and the rest of the front office.
In this story:

It's that time of the year where schools everywhere are starting to get back in the swing of things. For the Dallas Mavericks, though, class has been in session all summer as they've made several moves to revamp their roster.

Not only did the Mavs accomplish their biggest summer goal, which was to re-sign Kyrie Irving to a long-term deal, but they also upgraded their depth around the superstar tandem of Irving and Luka Doncic. Dallas' biggest offseason additions include: Grant Williams (via sign-and-trade from the Boston Celtics), Dereck Lively II (via the No. 12 pick in a trade down with the Oklahoma City Thunder), OMax Prosper (via the No. 24 pick) and Richaun Holmes (via salary-dump trade from the Sacramento Kings), Seth Curry and Dante Exum.

Although more moves could be made between now and the start of the season – the Mavs are still rumored to have interest in acquiring a veteran starting center like Atlanta Hawks' Clint Capela – DallasBasketball.com took the temperature of the Mavs' fan base by asking them to give Dallas' offseason a letter grade.

The poll lasted for 24 hours and had 1,184 total votes, with the majority of fans (63%) giving the Mavs a solid "B" for this offseason. Even without having acquired another big man yet, "A" was the second most-popular grade given to the Mavs in this poll (19.8%). Of course, not everyone can be happy, though, as 9.8 percent of fans gave Dallas a "C" and 7.3 percent gave a "D."

We committed the "F" letter grade from being a part of this, because, as noted in the above tweet, one would have to be a real hater to look at everything the Dallas front office has done this summer with the little resources available and still give them a failing grade. However ... there always seems to be one.

Overall, we'd say the Mavs' fan base is feeling pretty good about their team heading into the 2023-24 season. After missing the playoffs last season, Doncic and Irving are coming into this year with a retooled roster and a couple of chips on their shoulders. Hopefully, that will lead to the Mavs' "end of the season" grades being as good as the offseason ones.
