Mavericks Star Kyrie Irving Questionable vs. Grizzlies on Monday: Details

Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving missed the first game of the double-header against the Memphis Grizzlies on March 11, 2023 and is uncertain to return on Monday, March 13.
In this story:

Kyrie Irving has played in 11 of a possible 13 games since joining the Dallas Mavericks. He recently missed Dallas' 112-108 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on March 11, with a foot injury, and may not see the floor in tomorrow's game against the Grizzlies on March 13. The news broke on Twitter Sunday evening:

The Mavericks are 5-6 when Irving takes the floor. Without the 2023 All-Star starter and his fellow honoree Luka Doncic, Dallas gave Memphis a run for their money in their last outing at the FedEx Forum.

Three Mavericks -- Jaden Hardy, Josh Green and Tim Hardaway Jr. -- scored 20 points or more, and Green shone with a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double on 56.3 percent shooting from the floor.

Despite role players stepping up and filling the scoring void left by Irving and Doncic, Dallas could not stop six Grizzlies from scoring in double figures, including 25 points, seven rebounds and eight assists from Desmond Bane and 24 points from David Roddy on a team-high +11 night, all while shooting 10-13 from the field.

This time around, The Mavericks will be back in Dallas to face Memphis, in hopes of improving to 35-34 on the year and potentially ascend from the No. 8 to the No. 6 seed in 30 hours time. Both the seventh-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves (34-34) and the sixth-seeded Golden State Warriors (35-33) play Monday night as well.

Dallas is 1-2 against the Wolves in their season series, and are 1-1 against the Warriors. However, Dallas owns the current tie-breaker in the event that Minnesota and Golden State lose their next games, as their 55.5 percent record against the Western Conference edges out Golden State's 55 percent record by a fraction of a percentage.
