Dallas Mavs & Luka Doncic By The Numbers: 5 Big Stats From Blowout Win vs. Utah Jazz
There's a lot to unpack when a team pulls off a 50-point blowout win, and that's what the Dallas Mavericks are working with after drubbing the Utah Jazz 147-97 on Wednesday night.
Luka Doncic was masterful in his second game back from becoming a father, the Mavs' defense produced its best outing of the season, and the offense pulled off something that has never been done in franchise history. Here are five key stats from the Mavs' slump-busting win over the Jazz.
1) Mavs scored 147 points on Wednesday, which is tied for the fifth-most points scored in the team's history. After scoring 144 points against the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 10, the Mavs have now scored at least that many points in two games for the first time ever in one season ... and we're only at the 20-game mark. Dallas has had a lot of great offensive teams throughout the years, but this year's squad might end up being the best before it's said and done. Currently, the Mavs are fourth in the league with an offensive rating of 118.6.
2) For the first time this season, the Mavs held an opponent to under 100 points with the injury-plagued Jazz only mustering up 97. Don't look now, but Dallas has the sixth-best defensive rating in the NBA over its last six games. If Doncic and company can keep up that kind of effort while also putting up monstrous numbers on offense, they're going to be extremely hard to beat.
3) The Mavs' win over the Jazz marked just the sixth time in team history that they've won by 50 points or more, and four of those wins have come in the Doncic era. The last time Dallas won by 50 points was on April 8, 2022 against the Portland Trail Blazers – the team the Mavs play next on Friday night in Portland.

4) Doncic posted the 60th triple-double of his career, passing Boston Celtics Larry Bird for sole possession of ninth in the league’s all-time list. He finished with 40 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, and he had a 29-point triple-double by halftime — the first time a triple-double of at least 25 points has been posted in a single half in league history. The 24-year-old phenom continues to amaze us on a nightly basis.
5) The Mavs moved to 7-0 all-time when Doncic scores a 40-point triple-double. If Dallas, now 12-8, wants to finish the season with a league-record 74 wins, the formula is clear…
In all seriousness, though, the Mavs are obviously at their best when Doncic is at his, and the MVP candidate is in the midst of the best season of his young career, averaging 31.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.6 assists while shooting a career-high (by far) 39.5 percent from deep. With Kyrie Irving by his side, and having a deeper supporting cast than he’s had in his career, Doncic has a chance to take the Mavs higher than he ever has before.
