LISTEN: Luka Doncic & Kyrie Irving Mesh Well in Blowout Win; Justin Holiday Dazzles in Debut

The Dallas Mavericks are rested and ready to roll in the final stretch of the 2022-23 season. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving kicked things off with a blowout win over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night.
In this story:

Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks got back on track with a 142-116 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night, ending a three-game skid that took them into the All-Star break.

Doncic led the way with 28 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists through the first three quarters, but it was Irving’s push in the early stages of the fourth quarter that blew the game open and kept Doncic from having to re-enter. Irving finished with 23 points and six assists in just 30 minutes.

Dallas’ dynamic duo securing its first win was nice to see, but the debut of veteran shooting guard Justin Holiday was even better. In 22 minutes off the bench, Holiday put up 15 points on 5-6 shooting from deep while playing solid defense as well.

On today’s episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, we recap the Mavs’ slump-busting win against the Spurs, discuss the budding chemistry between Doncic and Irving, applaud Holiday for his immaculate Dallas debut and finally, preview Sunday’s matinee matchup with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on ABC.
