Mavs Pregame LISTEN: Luka, Kyrie’s 1st Home Game Together; Justin Holiday’s Fit
After experiencing a crazy week that featured a blockbuster trade and some quality road wins, the Dallas Mavericks are finally back home at American Airlines Center on Monday night as they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving put up big numbers against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to get the Mavs the win in what was their third game in four nights to end a five-game road trip. Dallas’ new dynamic duo is ready to finally make its home debut, and Irving is especially excited to receive a warm welcome from Mavs fans.
“A lot of cheers, a lot of love,” Irving said when talking about his expectations. “Just grateful my family can be a part of it and be welcomed by the Dallas area and be welcomed by the organization and my teammates. That’s what I’m most looking forward to.”
On this episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, we break down Doncic and Irving’s first game together by the numbers, including what works seamlessly already and what might need some minor tweaking going forward.
From there, we preview the Mavs’ game against the Timberwolves and briefly talk about how Justin Holiday will fit in with Dallas for the rest of this season. On Monday, it was reported that the 33-year-old 3-and-D wing had secured a contract buyout from the Houston Rockets and planned to sign with the Mavs soon after.
