Latest Mavs Trade Rumors: Dorian Finney-Smith, Royce O’Neale & Andre Drummond

NBA trade deadline week is here, and the Dallas Mavericks continue to be included in several rumors. Here’s the latest.

The Dallas Mavericks are poised to make some trade deadline moves if recent rumors are any indicator. With the deadline set to take place on Thursday, the latest batch of rumors have the Mavs linked to a couple of 3-and-D forwards and a backup center.

According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Mavs have continued to show interest in Brooklyn Nets’ Dorian Finney-Smith and Royce O’Neale ahead of the deadline.

“Heading into Thursday’s deadline, rival executives continue to believe a first-round pick and a rotation player is suitable for Finney-Smith – who’s owed $14.9 million next season with a $15.37 million player option for the 2025-26 season – and multiple second-round picks can be had for O’Neale, who’s entering unrestricted free agency this summer,” Scotto wrote.

“Finney-Smith has drawn significant interest on the trade market, including several playoff-caliber teams such as the Lakers and Mavericks. With Jarred Vanderbilt potentially out for the season, per ESPN, Finney-Smith is a versatile defensive forward who can make up for his loss while spacing the floor. The Mavericks have long held interest in a reunion with Finney-Smith who is a close friend of franchise star Luka Doncic.”

Aside from needing upgrades at the small-forward and power-forward positions, the Mavs could also use another backup center. Dallas has also been linked to Chicago Bulls’ Andre Drummond, who likely would’ve signed with the Mavs in free agency last summer had he opted out of his player option.

“One Bulls player who could be dealt, however, is center Andre Drummond who’s drawn trade interest from the Celtics, Mavericks, Lakers and Suns, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto wrote.

In 50 games this season, Drummond is averaging 7.7 points and 8.3 rebounds in just 15.8 minutes while shooting 55.3 percent from the field. Although he isn’t a perfect player, the Mavs could greatly benefit from having Drummond back up rookie big man Dereck Lively II going forward.
