NBA Rumor: LeBron James Responds to Kyrie Irving's Mavs Trade Recruitment?

Kyrie Irving has reportedly reached out to Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James about potentially joining the Dallas Mavericks via trade. One rumor states James gave an answer to Irving.

Despite there being an entertaining NBA Finals series going on between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat, the Dallas Mavericks continue to garner a lot of media attention due to star point guard Kyrie Irving reportedly asking Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James if he’d consider making his way to Big D.

Although that pipe-dream idea is unlikely, due to what the Mavs have to offer in a trade package, all it takes is for James to decide that he wants to form a Big 3 with Irving and Luka Doncic to really get the ball rolling.

James is 38 years old and could be an unrestricted free agent in 2024. Given what he’s done for the Lakers over the last five years — including a championship in 2020 — there’s a good chance James could find a way to get what he wants.

One rumor from Bally Sports NBA Analyst Brandon Robinson claims that James has already given Irving a response to his Mavs recruitment efforts.

“[I] was told that Kyrie asked LeBron to come to Dallas and play for the Mavs,” Robinson tweeted. “LeBron’s reply on the phone was: ‘I’ll think about it.’”

Like with most rumors, we must take this stuff with a grain of salt. However, it’s interesting that this LeBron-to-Dallas narrative has picked up steam lately, especially since there were rumors about him potentially considering joining Doncic even before Irving was in the equation. And The Athletic’s Shams Charania wouldn’t have reported Irving’s recruitment of James if there wasn’t something going on behind the scenes.

If Robinson’s latest rumor is true, ‘I’ll think about it’ certainly isn’t a ‘yes’ from LeBron. But it certainly isn’t a ‘no’ either, and that could be big for the Mavs heading into the next 3-4 weeks if the smoke continues to rise.
