UCF’s Taylor Hendricks Falls to Mavs in Latest NBA Mock Draft

A few weeks ago, it didn’t seem like the Dallas Mavericks would have a real shot to snag UCF’s Taylor Hendricks with the No. 10 pick in this year’s NBA Draft, but a recent mock draft thinks it’s possible.
In this story:

Although the Dallas Mavericks have the No. 10 pick in this year’s NBA Draft, rumors have swirled about owner Mark Cuban and company potentially trading it for more win-now help alongside co-stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

However, the likely reality of the situation is that nobody knows what’s going to happen on draft night — not even the Mavs.

There are many intriguing prospects in this year’s lottery, including 6-foot-9 versatile forward Taylor Hendricks, who averaged 15.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game for UCF in his freshman season. The 19-year-old shot 47.8 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from deep on nearly five attempts per game.

Although it’s possible Hendricks could be off the board by the time the Mavs make their selection, Yahoo! Sports’ latest mock draft has him falling to the Mavs at No. 10 with players like Anthony Black, Jarace Walker and Nick Smith Jr. going ahead of him.

Unless the Mavs get an offer they can’t refuse on draft night, they must heavily consider keeping the 10th pick if Hendricks is still available. He is everything a team needs in today’s NBA — a big, versatile forward who makes a difference on both ends of the floor.

If the Mavs enjoyed what former forward Dorian Finney-Smith brought to the table before he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in the Irving deal from February, then they’d love what Hendricks has to offer as well. The draft will begin on June 22, just 15 days from now.
