Mavs' Pascal Siakam Trade Interest 'Overstated'; Who Tops Dallas' PF Wish List?

On Sunday, a Toronto Raptors insider reported that the Dallas Mavericks, as well as the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks, are "likely" to pursue star forward Pascal Siakam as the Feb. 8 trade deadline gets closer.

However, a new report on Monday from NBA insider Marc Stein suggests that we should perhaps pump the brakes on the Siakam-to-Dallas idea for now. The Mavs do have interest in the two-time All-Star, and they do plan to pursue an upgrade at their starting power forward position, but Siakam might not be a the top of Dallas' wishlist.

“The Dallas Mavericks have indeed registered some exploratory trade interest in Siakam, league sources say, but one source over the weekend described their interest to me as overstated," Stein wrote. "The Mavericks are indeed hoping to upgrade at the four spot, I’m told, but my sense is Siakam is not atop their wish list.”

With that being said, one has to wonder who could be at the top of that wish list? Could it be Golden State Warriors' four-time champion Draymond Green? After all, Dallas is the betting-odds favorite to land him if the Warriors do decide to trade him. How about Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen, Portland Trail Blazers' Jerami Grant or Charlotte Hornets' P.J. Washington?

There are plenty of options for the Mavs to look through on the trade market this season, and based on what we're hearing so far, it looks like we could be getting some decent activity from GM Nico Harrison for the third consecutive year. Some of those options available aren't as good as Siakam, but they could still be upgrades while also being more affordable.
