NBA Insiders Reveal Wizards’ Kyle Kuzma Trade Price Mavs Can Afford

Initial reports stated that the Washington Wizards were looking for two first-round picks in order to trade Kyle Kuzma, but that asking price has reportedly dropped to a range that is affordable for the Dallas Mavericks.

The Dallas Mavericks have been linked to Washington Wizards versatile forward Kyle Kuzma in trade rumors over the last few weeks, but initial reports of Washington asking for two first-round picks appeared to dampen Dallas’ chances of making something happen before the Feb. 8 trade deadline.

However, according to The Athletic, Kuzma’s trade price might not be as high as expected, and the Wizards are reportedly not demanding two first-round picks. If that is truly the case, the Mavs would have a legitimate chance to add Kuzma as their power-forward upgrade.

“League sources maintain Washington has been holding out for two first-round picks for Kuzma, though team sources indicate that is somewhat overblown. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle,” David Aldridge and Josh Robbins wrote.

“If Dallas is indeed in on Kuzma, the Wizards would have to be willing to take on either veteran Maxi Kleber or veteran Richaun Holmes, neither of whom fits the Wizards’ expected player-development timeline, along with whichever young players and/or picks in which Washington would have interest.”

It is unclear what young Mavs players the Wizards would be interested in, but 6-8 forward Olivier Maxence-Prosper, who was the No. 24 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, would surely pique their interest some.

Trade Odds: Mavs Realistic Shot to Make Wizards’ Kyle Kuzma Deal?

“Rookie forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper would fit the young-player profile, but it’s unclear at best whether Prosper would interest the Wizards,” David Aldridge and Josh Robbins wrote. “It is possible that a potential deal with Dallas could expand so that Kleber and/or Holmes were rerouted to a third team, with Washington getting the requisite young players and/or picks it wants from that team.”
