By now, we've all heard the murmurs involving Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and the Dallas Mavericks. Last summer, Luka Doncic's co-star Kyrie Irving reached out to his former champion teammate to gauge his interest in potentially joining the Mavs.

Now, as the Lakers continue to be inconsistent with a 21-22 record just past the halfway point of the season, and some are unsure if the 39-year-old will finish his career in L.A. According to BetOnline.ag, the Mavs have top-5 betting odds of being James' next team via trade or free agency signing if he does decide he wants to leave the Lakers.

On the list, the Mavs are tied with the New York Knicks for having the fourth-best odds at 6/1. The Chicago Bulls have the third-best odds at 5/1, the Cleveland Cavaliers have the second-best odds at 4/1, and surprisingly, the rebuilding San Antonio Spurs have the top odds at 3/1.

Out of all those options, it seems like the Mavs and Cavs would present James with the best chance to win at least one more championship before he retires. His potential fit with Doncic, Irving, fellow Klutch client Dereck Lively II and head coach Jason Kidd in Dallas speaks for itself. And going back home to Cleveland for a third and final stint with a roster that has been rebuilt nicely since he left in 2018 would also be a solid option.

NBA Insider Unsure of LeBron’s Lakers Future ; Mavs ‘Big 3’ with Luka, Kyrie?

Given the insane amount of star power the Mavs would have with a trio of Doncic, Irving and James, all of whom have great relationships with one another, it's hard not to see Dallas as the real favorites to acquire James if he does leave the Lakers ... no matter what the betting odds say.
