During the initial half against the Golden State Warriors, Cameron Thomas exhibited his scoring prowess by tallying 24 points on an efficient 8-for-11 shooting. Maintaining his momentum, he continued to impress over the next 24 minutes, ultimately reaching a total of 41 points.

The Brooklyn Nets couldn’t capitalize on Cam’s fantastic performance as they still lost 120-124. It was an unfortunate result but they are moving forward with lessons they learned from this game.

That includes the LSU product who was glad to shake the cobwebs off after coming back from injury but was down after the loss.

“Just my feeling out there, the way I started the game off, I felt good coming in. Felt better, getting better by the day. In transition when I did the floater, that’s when I felt I was good so my rhythm is coming back. I'm getting to where I want to be,” Cam said in his press conference after the game.

Cam is ready to take over as a top option again

At the start of the season, Cam was averaging around 30 points per game and thriving as a number-one option for the Nets. Of course, that was unsustainable as more teams would gameplan around him being their primary defensive assignment. He got injured which led to a slower run for Thomas.

This provided Mikal Bridges with additional chances to shine, highlighted by two outstanding 40+ point performances. With both players performing at a high level, Cameron is poised to reclaim his position as a top scoring option.

The rhythm he had against the Warriors was proof that he was ready to show up and show out for coach Jacque Vaughn. He is hitting his mid-range shots while also thriving as a driver, which was perceived as a weakness before.

The team is glad to have Cam firing again

Despite the loss, this game was a welcome relief. Thomas struggled in the weeks following his return from injury, consistently scoring below 20 points per game, with a noticeable decline in efficiency.

“Yeah, real good. I just wasn’t able to help him, missed a lot of shots to help him. But yeah, that’s what he does, he scores at a high level and is efficient. It just stinks he has this game and that goes away since we lost,” Mikal Bridges said after the Warriors game.

Despite the disappointment, Mikal and the rest of the Nets should be glad that Cam is back to his old ways and scoring at a high rate. That will only spell good news for the team moving forward.
