Denver Nuggets Forward Reveals Shocking Muscle Gain
Without the services of Bruce Brown and Jeff Green, the Denver Nuggets will need to rely on their younger players now more than they ever did before. Players like Christian Braun and Peyton Watson will surely receive more playing time than they did last season, and they have to be prepared for it. As such, Watson came into training camp incredibly prepared.
Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports revealed that Watson actually put on 20 pounds of muscle over the last year in preparation for this year. He wants to be able to guard muscular players like Aaron Gordon without needing a double.
"Playing the 3 and the 4, having to guys like AG," Watson said. "I don't need any help. I don't need a double. I'm holding my own."
Watson didn't receive much playing time in 23 games last season, only averaging 3.3 points and 1.6 rebounds in 8.1 minutes a game. He was only 20 years old in his rookie season, so there's no reason to give up on him yet. For Watson to bounce back in his sophomore year with such improved size and strength can only mean good things for him.
It remains to be seen how Peyton Watson is going to perform in his sophomore year with the team, but one thing is for sure, Watson will receive an opportunity to showcase himself.
