Denver Nuggets Very Likely to Lose Key Player
Bruce Brown has declined his $6.8 million player option for the 2023-24 NBA season and will officially become a free agent, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. It puts Brown in a very interesting situation where he could either come back to the Denver Nuggets for less money and contend for a championship, or get a huge payday from someone elsewhere after his playoff performance.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, it looks like the latter will be more likely to happen. Wojnarowski was a guest on the Pat McAfee Show where he stated that the Denver Nuggets were "very likely" to lose Bruce Brown in free agency. Now, that doesn't mean the Nuggets are guaranteed to lose Brown, as he's stated publicly he wants to come back to Denver. However, it does mean the chances are very high and he may just really want to earn the massive payday that he deserves.
Brown was absolutely tremendous during the Nuggets' championship run this season, even putting up 21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block in Game 4. Throughout the playoffs, he averaged 12 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals on 51% shooting. He did it all for the Denver Nuggets and was one of the best bench players throughout the NBA Playoffs. If the Nuggets were to lose Bruce Brown, it would be a massive blow.
