Devin Booker Makes Shocking Decision Following Game 6 Loss
Following an embarrassing Game 6 loss to the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker skipped his postgame media session. According to local reporters, who spoke with ESPN's Tim MacMahon, this is very uncharacteristic for Booker.
Nobody expected this from Booker, because as MacMahon states, local reporters have grown used to the Suns star fulfilling his media obligations regardless of a game's outcome. While it may not seem shocking for a star player to skip media after a loss like this, there is a reason local reporters were so surprised by this decision from Booker.
To compound matters even further, Booker was also not present at exit interviews on Friday, making it consecutive media sessions he was absent for.
Booker is understandably frustrated; however, the NBA has proven a willingness to fine players for skipping media sessions. Most recently fining Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks for skipping media during the first round against the Los Angeles Lakers, the NBA has already enforced their media availability policy this postseason.
It is worth noting that Brooks was fined after several violations, so the league may not fine Booker for the one postgame absence, but it does remain a possibility. Booker's absence at exit interviews is likely not something the NBA can fine him for, as these are hosted by individual organizations.
Needless to say, Devin Booker is frustrated with another disappointing season for the Phoenix Suns. After being embarrassed on their home floor by the Dallas Mavericks lats postseason, Phoenix suffered a nearly identical ending this year.
