Injury Report: Miami Heat Player Misses Practice Before Game 2
The Miami Heat are practicing on Saturday afternoon ahead of Game 2 vs. the Denver Nuggets, but they will not have one of their starters present at practice, as forward Caleb Martin is battling an illness.
Martin struggled in Game 1 of the NBA Finals after being arguably Miami's best player in the Eastern Conference Finals. While it was Jimmy Butler who took home the Eastern Conference Finals MVP award, Martin was just one vote behind him, and had a strong case for the honor.
It is unclear if this illness will jeopardize Martin's Game 2 status, but it is certainly something to keep an eye on. Despite his struggles in Game 1, Martin is a player the Heat have relied heavily on throughout this postseason, and they will need him if they want to beat Denver.
Martin not being with the team while he battles an illness makes sense, as they certainly do not want him to get anybody else sick. It's unfortunate that this will force Martin to miss practice, but Miami certainly hopes it's not something that impacts his status for Game 2. As previously mentioned, this will be a story to follow.
The Heat have yet to release their injury report for Game 2, which will be the first real update on Martin's status for this pivotal matchup.
