LeBron James Reveals Honest Thoughts on Nuggets Series
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Denver Nuggets in the 2020 Western Conference Finals, but LeBron James says this Denver team is better than the one LA saw in the bubble. Speaking with reporters on Monday, James said, "They're a better team [than the 2020 team]. Obviously they're more experienced. Every game, every postseason, every matchup allows you to continue to grow as a franchise, as a team, and they've done that. So we come in with the utmost respect for this team."
Denver was the Western Conference's top seed this season, and took care of a Phoenix Suns team that many felt would come out of the West after acquiring Kevin Durant. Now tasked with facing LeBron and the Lakers, Denver is looking for a better outcome than the 2020 Western Conference Finals.
This is an interesting matchup, because while many felt the Nuggets would have a good opportunity to advance this far, the Lakers once seemed unlikely to even make the playoffs. With some trade deadline acquisitions and improved health, LA has turned their season around, and now sits just one series away from the NBA Finals.
As was the case vs. Golden State, LeBron and the Lakers have a lot of respect for this Nuggets team, and understand how difficult it will be having go through Nikola Jokic and his teammates.
