Nikola Jokic Breaks NBA Record in Game 5 vs. Suns
With a triple-double in Game 5, Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic overtook Wilt Chamberlain for the most triple-doubles by a center in NBA playoff history. More importantly for Jokic, his Nuggets secured a massive victory, and took a 3-2 lead over the Phoenix Suns.
Jokic finished with 29 PTS, 13 REB, and 12 AST in the Game 5 victory, pushing Phoenix to the brink of elimination. The Nuggets remain perfect at home in this series, and will look to pick up a road victory in Game 6 to punch their ticket to the Western Conference Finals.
The Suns were the best team in the Western Conference this season, and are now one win away from taking down a Suns team that many felt would be unbeatable after acquiring Kevin Durant. Phoenix has shown at times this series why so many were high on them, but they have also shown why some were skeptical.
With hardly any reliable depth, Phoenix relies heavily on their top-end talent. While Durant and Booker have won them two games in this series, anything less than perfect play from those two is tough for Phoenix to overcome. While Denver is also reliant on their star power, they had five players in double figures in Game 5, including 25 points off the bench from Bruce Brown. While Jokic is the engine for Denver, they have a talented roster that is one win away from the Western Conference Finals.
