Nikola Jokic Gives Incredible Answer About Importance of NBA Finals
Time and time again, Nikola Jokic has given selfless answers about why he plays the game of basketball. It shouldn't surprise NBA fans at this point, but somehow, he still finds a way to surprise. When asked if these NBA Finals were the most important moment in his career, Jokic gave a very unexpected answer.
For Jokic, these NBA Finals games aren't important for him, but because he wants to get veteran players like Deandre Jordan and Jeff Green a championship.
"It's maybe now or never," Jokic said about getting his veteran teammates a championship.
The selflessness of Jokic's personality is something that can be seen both on and off the court. Off the court, he praises his teammate almost every answer he can get, even when the question is about himself. On the court, Jokic never gets angry when his teammates take a shot instead of him. The most perfect example was the end of Game 2, when Jamal Murray took the game-tying shot instead of Jokic. There wasn't a single ounce of Jokic complaining or clapping his hands in frustration at Murray, and he was fully invested in his teammate's shot.
The Denver Nuggets have been a very special team this season. There are years when you can tell that a team just has "it", and the Denver Nuggets have been that team all year. They're now two wins away from winning their first NBA Championship in franchise history.
