Nikola Jokic Joins Tim Duncan on Historic NBA List
Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has led his team to the NBA Finals, and now has them just three wins from winning it all. While the Nuggets have an elite supporting cast around Jokic, it's his greatness that makes them such an unstoppable force. While there are several stats and metrics that affirm this, perhaps none of them illuminate Jokic's dominance like this one:
Leading the Nuggets in points, rebounds, assists, and blocks entering the NBA Finals, Jokic joined Tim Duncan as the only other player since 1974 to do this. Duncan of course won Finals MVP that year, which is the path Jokic is on if he and the Nuggets are able to maintain this level of play.
Jokic has been breaking records this entire postseason, and has shown no signs of slowing down. There has been no counter for his greatness at any point in this playoff run, and unless Miami is able to recreate their shotmaking from the Eastern Conference Finals, they're going to have a very tough time keeping pace with Denver.
While the Nuggets have looked dominant up until this point, they recognize the job is far from finished. Their goal this season was not to make the NBA Finals, or win one game in the NBA Finals, it was to win the whole thing.
