Nikola Jokic on Verge of Unprecedented NBA Finals History
Entering Game 4 vs. the Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic sits just one triple-double away from becoming the first player in NBA history with at least three triple-doubles in a single Finals series.
Jokic enters Game 4 averaging close to a triple-double in the Finals, posting 33.3 PPG, 14.0 RPG, and 9.3 APG through the first three games. Jokic is also averaging 30.5 PPG, 13.4 RPG, and 10.1 APG throughout the entire postseason, which would make him just the 4th player in NBA history to average a triple-double for an entire postseason run, and the first to do it while also winning a championship - if Denver can secure two more wins.
What is so remarkable about Jokic breaking all of these triple-double records, is that he plays the center position. As he's progressed throughout this historic run, the lists he has been joining have no longer been position-specific. It was impressive when Jokic was joining Wilt Chamberlain as one of the only centers to accomplish certain feats, but he's surpassed those position-specific rankings in several different ways this postseason, becoming simply the first player in NBA history to do many of the things he's done.
As Jokic has maintained throughout this historic run, the individual accolades mean very little to him. Only interested in bringing an NBA title to Denver, Jokic is four wins away from doing that.
