Trade Idea Between Denver Nuggets and Toronto Raptors

Could the Denver Nuggets and Toronto Raptors complete this trade?

It feels strange talking about trade ideas for the Denver Nuggets so soon after they completed their dominant postseason run with an NBA championship, but this league moves fast. In a recent article from Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley, Denver's top trade targets this summer were ranked, and the list included Chris Boucher of the Toronto Raptors.

At 6'9", Boucher has played several different positions during his time in the NBA, including backup center, which is where Buckley believes he could fit with Denver. Already boasting an incredibly complete roster, Denver could use some front court depth behind Jokic, which is where a potential deal for Boucher would make sense.

In 76 games for the Raptors last season, all of which came off the bench, Boucher averaged 9.4 PPG and 5.5 RPG in 20.0 minutes per contest. Showing signs of becoming a viable stretch-big in 2021 when he shot 38.3% from deep on 3.9 attempts per game, Boucher has been unable to build on that success from beyond the arc, shooting just 29.7% from deep in 2022, and 32.8% last season.

While his ability to stretch the floor has not become a consistent part of his game, Boucher could still fill a need for the Nuggets with Jeff Green, DeAndre Jordan and Thomas Bryant all set to hit unrestricted free agency. With Jokic slotted for heavy minutes every night, Denver doesn't need much behind him, which would make a trade with the Raptors for somebody like Boucher worth exploring if they need to fill out their front court depth.
