Indiana Pacers rookie guard Bennedict Mathurin was a finalist for the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award in the month of February.

It is the third straight month that Mathruin has been a nomniee for the honor. He was also one in December and in January.

In the month of February, Mathurin averaged 13.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He shot 43.6% from the field, and the Pacers went 4-7 during the month. He also was a part of the winning team for the NBA Rising Stars festivities at All-Star weekend.

In the end, Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero won the award. He averaged 16.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in the month of February.

Mathurin had an up-and-down month, with his best game coming against the Utah Jazz. He had 21 points, four rebounds, and two assists that night and shot 8/13 from the field.

"I feel like I'm really gifted offensively. Defensively, I still need to make a couple strides just to improve. I want to be a two-way player," Mathruin said during the month. He wants to be one of the greats.

Mathurin won the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award back in October/November, and he has been a nominee at every opportunity since. He is having a solid first campaign and is in the mix for the Rookie of the Year award, though Banchero is currently the favorite.

The Pacers rookie is averaging 16.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this season. He has played in all 64 games for the blue and gold and scored 1,084 points this campaign.
