Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton to hold basketball camp in Indianapolis area this June
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton announced the dates for his annual youth basketball ProCamp that will be held in Indianapolis this summer.
According to a release from ProCamps, Haliburton will host the event on June 15th and 16th of this year. It will take place in Carmel, a suburb on the Northside of Indianapolis, and will be held at the Aletto Family Sports Center.
The camp is for players from grades 1-8. Per the release, it will focus on basketball fundamentals, games, and fun. Campers will be able to work directly with Haliburton to improve their abilities.
"It's really important for me that I'm invested in this community moving forward," Haliburton said when he signed a contract extension last summer. "I want to pay back being able to be in this community and be in this environment."
He loves doing the camp, and he held another one last offseason in Ames, Iowa, where Iowa State University resides. That's where Haliburton played his college basketball. "I hope that these kids have a lot of fun and that I get to interact with them as much as possible," he said at last year's camp. "You can see the sparkle in kid's eyes sometimes when you talk to them, and that's just the coolest thing."
According to the release about Haliburton's upcoming camp, "Each participant will receive a team photo, souvenir autograph, and limited-edition camp t-shirt. Campers will have the opportunity to meet and learn from Haliburton, ask questions, and receive feedback on their performance - ensuring that participants leave with new knowledge and memories to last a lifetime."
Haliburton was an All-Star this season and is averaging 21.5 points and 11.6 assists per game for the Pacers. He is the face of the franchise and has been eager to get involved in the Indianapolis community.
