Indiana Pacers starting point guard Tyrese Haliburton and starting center Myles Turner were finalists for Eastern Conference Player of the Month for December.

The honor was given to the player in each conference who had the best performances during December of 2023. Indiana went 8-6 during the month and ended the year on a three-game winning streak.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Giannis Antetokounmpo took home the hardware in December. They were both excellent, and Antetokounmpo scored 64 points against the Pacers on December 13.

Haliburton, as he does, had a great month. He averaged 21.4 points and 14.0 assists per game and had several historic stat lines. He just won Conference Player of the Week and is leading the East in All-Star fan voting among guards.

Turner, meanwhile, averaged 19.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in December. He has been rock-solid all season long on both ends of the court and is a great two-way center. He was a nominee for Conference Player of the Week last week.

Indiana needs more team success to have a Player of the Month winner. The Bucks, for example, went 11-2 during the month while the Thunder were 10-3. Wins are an important factor in the honor.

The Pacers last Player of the Month winner was Paul George in April of 2017. Haliburton seems like the best chance to end that streak. He and the blue and gold take on the Atlanta Hawks tonight in Indianapolis.
