What 2024 NBA Draft picks do the Indiana Pacers have after the trade deadline?
The Indiana Pacers made two significant trades this season, one that netted them forward Pascal Siakam and another that sent away guard Buddy Hield. They got better, but are still thinking long term.
In making those moves, the Pacers moved around some draft assets — they inherited picks for Hield (and then sent one to San Antonio for Doug McDermott) but offloaded some to Toronto to acquire Siakam. Their extra picks going forward have changed.
In the deal that put Siakam in Indiana, the Pacers sent out three first-round draft picks. Two of them were in the 2024 draft, and the other came in 2026. Along the way, they acquired a second-round pick in that same 2024 draft from New Orleans.
When Hield was dealt to Philadelphia in a three-team deal that landed the blue and gold McDermott, they acquired a 2024 second-round pick and a 2029 second rounder. Their draft assets have changed significantly in the last month.
Compared to where they were one month ago, the team has three fewer first-round selections, but three more in the second round — two of which come this season. Here is an updated look at which picks Indiana has in the 2024 draft.
- Second-round selection from Toronto, Utah, or Cleveland: The Pacers received this pick for Hield. If the Raptors ended up with the most valuable pick in the second round between themselves, the Pacers, the Jazz, and the Cavaliers, then the Pacers will get their pick. If Toronto doesn't have the best selection of those teams, which is extremely unlikely, then the blue and gold would receive the better of either Indiana's pick or the worst of Utah's and Cleveland's. As it stands today, this pick that Indiana owns would be 37th.
- Second-round selection from New Orleans or Chicago: Indiana will get whichever second-round choice is worse between the Bulls and Pelicans as a result of the Siakam maneuvers. Currently, it would be the Pelicans' 51st overall pick.
- Second-round selection from Milwaukee: The Pacers grabbed the Bucks 2024 second-round pick at the 2023 trade deadline. As of today, it sits at 54.
- Second-round selection: The Pacers will receive the worst second-round pick between their own, Utah's, and Cleveland's. As of right now, that would be the Cavaliers pick, which is 56th.
It should be noted that whichever pick is the worst of those four will be sent to Golden State as a result of the Cory Joseph trade last week. As of February 15, Indiana's 2024 draft picks would be 37th, 51st, and 54th with 56th heading to the Warriors.
