BREAKING: Willie Green's Status Update, James Borrego Coaching Pelicans

New Orleans Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego assumed the head coaching duties with Willie Green "not feeling well."

New Orleans Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego assumed the head coaching duties with Willie Green "not feeling well."

Borrego said about tonight's coaching change:  “Shortly after shootaround we found out. Obviously, Willie’s (Green) not feeling well.  He’ll be back here soon.  Hopefully, we can get him back in the next 24 hours.  We just did what we do. This is our normal business.  We go about it. We’ve been here before.  These guys are professionals.  This staff is prepared for this moment.  We move forward.  We need a win tonight and that’s the number one thing, focusing on what we can control tonight.  Those ten games are behind us.  Now, what's in front of us is tonight's game and that’s all that matters.”

The Pelicans organization will give an update on Willie Green's status before the team's next game.

Borrego joined the Pelicans on June 3.  He's been a head coach for Orlando (interim) and Charlotte. Borrego's record is 148-183 in 331 games.
