NBA reporter Jared Greenberg reported that New Orleans is monitoring the healing of the fifth metatarsal in forward Zion Williamson's right foot.

Greenberg said the team would "gradually progress [Zion] to full weight-bearing exercise and basketball activities...the Pelicans have not officially ruled out a return" this season...the focus on his long-term health with the intention to have him completely healthy and ready to go at the start of next season."

Zion's return would be great for the Pelicans, whose record at one point this season was 18-32. Williamson averaged 27 PPG last season with New Orleans. His scoring and defensive ability could lift the Pelicans' chances as the NBA postseason nears.

New Orleans lost for a second-straight contest against the Memphis Grizzlies 132-111. The Pelicans' record fell to 27-38, with 1.5 games behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the play-in game race.

Next up for the Pelicans will be the Orlando Magic.
