The Toronto Raptors are well aware of how valuable the No. 4 pick can be.

It was just two years ago that Toronto snagged the fourth pick in the NBA Draft and proceeded to shock the basketball world by selecting Scottie Barnes ahead of Jalen Suggs. This time around, the Raptors appear to be considering another shocking move, having reportedly called the Houston Rockets to inquire about that No. 4 pick, per The Athletic’s Kelly Iko.

Houston has made it known they’re trying to take a step forward next season and acquire talent to help turn the organization around after three straight losing seasons. James Harden has widely been connected to the team as he heads into free agency and it’s possible the Rockets are looking to add another veteran player to the mix to bolster their roster.

Toronto’s most likely trade candidates for Houston are O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam, two versatile forwards who remain under contract through next season. It’s unclear what the Raptors would be willing to move for the No. 4 pick or what the Rockets are asking for, but it would likely be a deal centered around one of Toronto's two coveted forwards.

As for the pick, who is going to go at No. 4 is also uncertain. The top three picks are widely expected to be Victor Wembanyama followed by Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller at No. 2 and 3. After that, Amen Thompson appears the most-likely pick at No. 4, but his lack of shooting would make him an awkward fit alongside Scottie Barnes. Jarace Walker, Amen’s brother Ausar Thompson, and Cam Whitmore are all expected to be top lottery picks in that range.
