Nuggets PG Ish Smith Returning to Rockets?

The Houston Rockets may look to sign Denver Nuggets point guard Ish Smith.
In this story:

The Denver Nuggets have won their first NBA championship with arguably their deepest roster in franchise history.

Every player 1-15 has value and is part of why the team has succeeded, including veteran point guard Ish Smith, who began his career back with the Houston Rockets as an undrafted free agent in 2010. Smith averaged 2.5 points per game this season with the Nuggets.

Bleacher Report believes the Rockets could look into a reunion with the journeyman point guard.

"If Houston believes in Kevin Porter Jr. to continue to develop into a pure point guard, then just bringing on a veteran point guard behind him like Smith is an option as well," Bleacher Report writes.

Smith, who turns 35 next month, could be the ideal veteran for the Rockets. He wouldn't cut into playing time for the younger players but he would be effective in spot-up minutes. He also is a good player to have around for whether the Rockets decide to compete for a playoff spot or continue a rebuild.

If the Rockets become a playoff contender, Smith can be a veteran who can soak up minutes off the bench. If they are a rebuilding team, they can waive him in the middle of the season to allow him to sign with a contender.
