NBA Veteran Iguodala Calls Rockets' Brooks 'Crazy'
Four-time NBA champion Andre Iguodala didn't have many good things to say about Houston Rockets wing Dillon Brooks in an appearance on The Old Man and the Three podcast.
"There's certain guys in the NBA that wouldn't be in the NBA if they didn't have that crazy mentality or how they view themselves," Iguodala said. "There's a selfishness within how they view themselves. If Dillon Brooks wasn't crazy, he wouldn't be in the NBA."
Brooks signed a four-year, $86 million contract with the Rockets after spending the first six years of his career with the Memphis Grizzlies. Over the last year, he has been in the news multiple times for antics including getting ejected at the FIBA World Cup after a confrontation with Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić.
He also made comments during the first round of the 2022-23 NBA Playoffs regarding LeBron James' age and ability. The series ended with the seven-seed Los Angeles Lakers taking down the two-seed Grizzlies 4-2.
For his career, Brooks has averaged 14.5 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game and 2.1 assists per game while being an average shooter. He is mostly known for his gritty defense that has become slightly controversial recently. His best season came during the 2021-22 NBA season when he averaged 18.4 PPG, a career high.
Iguodala spent most of his 19-year NBA career playing for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Golden State Warriors. In his time with Golden State, he won four NBA Finals and was named NBA Finals MVP in 2014-15 for his performance guarding LeBron in the championship round.
The Rockets and Brooks will be back on the court for the NBA's preseason, starting with a home game against the Indiana Pacers on Oct. 10 at 8 p.m.
