Another veteran player is done as a member of the Houston Rockets before playing a single game.

Justin Holiday has reached a buyout agreement with the Rockets and plans to sign with the Dallas Mavericks, as first reported by ESPN

Holiday, alongside Frank Kaminsky, was acquired by the Rockets during Thursday's trade deadline from the Atlanta Hawks. The Rockets acquired the two veterans in exchange for Garrison Mathews and Bruno Fernando.

Holiday marks the second buyout agreement for the Rockets.

Danny Green reached a buyout on Sunday, and they are expected to do the same for former All-Star guard John Wall. Green signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers following his release.

General manager Rafael Stone was hoping to keep three of the four veterans to close out the 2022-23 season.

"We added a couple of guys who have really been around the league and have wonderful reputations, and great work ethic," Stone said. "As it relates to their roles on this team, that’s really for Stephen [Silas]. It’s not fair for me to start pontificating how they should be used for the remainder of the year. It’s ultimately on him."

According to AT&T SportsNet, Holiday and Kaminsky were in attendance during the Rockets' 97-95 loss to the Miami Heat on Friday. Both players had expressed their excitement about joining the Rockets.
