Rockets Trade Rumors: Jae'Sean Tate Gaining Interest?

Jae'Sean Tate is averaging 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in 16 appearances this season. Could the Houston Rockets trade him to a contender?
In this story:

With around 24 hours before the NBA trade deadline, the Houston Rockets are busy on the phones, just like the other 29 teams.

While Eric Gordon still remains the Rockets' most likely player to be traded, there is interest around the league in another Houston veteran.

According to The Athletic's Kelly Iko, Jae'Sean Tate is being talked about in trade conversations with the Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards.

The Rockets are unlikely to trade Tate, but given the fact the team holds the worst record in the league, there aren't many offers Houston can flat out ignore.

"The Rockets aren’t looking to trade the 27-year-old forward who is internally regarded as one of the most important pieces of this youthful roster," The Athletic writes. "But as is the case with any player, if there was a “can’t-turn-down” type offer, it would be considered, those sources said. Tate is highly valued within the organization because of his attention to detail, playmaking ability, unselfish play style and most importantly, his defensive intensity and versatility. He’s also seen as the bridge of sorts — connecting the rebuild to the future and how they envision the roster in the coming months."

Tate is averaging 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in 16 appearances this season. He signed a three-year, $20.6 million contract last season to remain with the Rockets, giving him a very team-friendly deal that is attractive to buyers.

The trade deadline is scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m.
