NBA Draft: League 'Increasingly Confident' Rockets Will Take Amen Thompson at No. 4

The Houston Rockets are slated to pick Amen Thompson with the No. 4 pick in Thursday's NBA Draft.
In this story:

The Houston Rockets are counting down the hours until the NBA Draft, where they hold the No. 4 pick.

With all of the drama surrounding the No. 2 pick and the Charlotte Hornets and the No. 3 pick and the Portland Trail Blazers, waters are beginning to calm down in terms of what the Rockets will do with the No. 4 pick.

Many expect the Rockets to stay the course and take Overtime Elite guard Amen Thompson, who has been linked to Houston in many mock drafts since the team received the No. 4 pick.

"League and team sources are becoming increasingly confident the Rockets will stay the course and select Amen with the fourth overall pick should he be on the board," Kelly Iko of The Athletic writes.

With Victor Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson and Brandon Miller expected to be the first three picks in the draft, Thompson has emerged as the next man up and it's possible that he's even considered among the same tier as Henderson and Miller.

There is a possibility that the Rockets take Villanova forward Cam Whitmore or Amen's twin brother Ausar, but anyone other than Amen would be considered a surprise at this point.
