NBA Free Agency Rumors: Rockets Interested in Nets' Cam Johnson?

The Houston Rockets have more cap space than any team in the NBA. Could that help them land Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson?
In this story:

The NBA Draft is just two weeks away, but just around the corner lies NBA free agency.

On June 30 at 5 p.m. CT, any free agent can officially discuss signing a new contract will all 30 NBA teams. The Houston Rockets should be one of the league's biggest players in the free agency market this year, holding the most cap space of any team in the league.

Houston's cap space makes the team a threat to sign any of the top free agents, including Brooklyn Nets forward Cam Johnson.

"On the wing, the Rockets do hold an interest in sharpshooter Cam Johnson, sources said, although Brooklyn personnel has indicated the Nets' plan to match any realistic offer sheet for the restricted free agent, who was part of the franchise’s return for Kevin Durant," Yahoo! Sports writes.

Johnson, 27, averaged 15.5 points per game this past season with the Nets and Phoenix Suns. Johnson was part of the trade that sent Kevin Durant to the Suns. As a restricted free agent, the Nets can match any offer that comes his way, but if the Rockets really want him, they can make an offer that Brooklyn may feel is too much.

Johnson would give the team a true three-point shooting threat on the wing and more depth as the Rockets look to return to relevancy after a three-year absence.
