'Every Game Matters!' Spurs Making Most of Season Despite Losing Record

The San Antonio Spurs are still finding meaning in their challenging season.
In this story:

The San Antonio Spurs are nearly 30 games back of first place in the Western Conference, but they didn't play like a last-place team in Sunday's 117-105 win against the Indiana Pacers at the Frost Bank Center.

It's very easy for a young team like the Spurs to mail it in with little on the line, but San Antonio is refusing to do that, still finding value in every game they play down the stretch.

"Every game matters," Jeremy Sochan said postgame. "You learn something from every game. Whether good or bad. As we always said, it is a process. Every day we just want to learn, grow, whether its in film, practice. Treatment. Understanding our bodies. It's important to learn and grow together. Every game matters no matter if we are in the playoffs or not."

The Spurs know that they are competing for future playing time, and in order to get that, they have to play their best now to prove that they can grow alongside their teammates.

And after 61 games together, it's clear that the group is making progress with each other.

"We learn. We compete in every game. Now we execute better. That is the difference. Realizing our strengths more and more. Having each other's back. We want to be great and every game matters," Victor Wembanyama said.

Spurs Start Win Streak After Beating Pacers

Considering both Sochan and Wembanyama said the same phrase in their postgame media availability proves that this is a message that is permeating around the locker room, and it's one that they believe in.

The Spurs are back in action tomorrow against the Houston Rockets. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
