The San Antonio Spurs could still make some additions in free agency with about $25 million remaining in cap space.

Among the top options left after the first weekend of free agency is Charlotte Hornets power forward PJ Washington.

All Hornets writer James Plowright believes the Spurs could be an option for Washington.

"The Spurs have the largest amount of cap space remaining, easily enough to sign PJ Washington to a contract up to $25 million which the Hornets would struggle to match. San Antonio's power forward room lacks depth, with second year forward Jeremy Sochan being the only recognised [sic] four on the roster," Plowright writes

Sochan is seen as the future at the power forward spot for the Spurs, but the team could benefit from another young forward to pair in the frontcourt in some lineups with Victor Wembanyama. The fit with Washington and Wembanyama also checks out for the Spurs.

"Washington's versatility to play both front court positions would fit well next to the incoming Victor Wembanyama who might be overpowered at times playing center," Plowright said. "A three year deal above $55 million would put the Hornets in a situation where they may consider letting Washington go and and pursuing other options, such as Grant Williams."

While the Spurs may prefer a player like Grant Williams or Trendon Watford, Washington may make more sense and cost less money.

With Miles Bridges returning to the Hornets after sitting out last year, Charlotte may not be willing to match every offer it gets for Washington ... and that's where San Antonio can swoop in.
