The San Antonio Spurs are about to draft Victor Wembanyama, giving them one of the highest ceilings out of all 30 franchises.

Drafting Wembanyama should wipe away the pain that this previous 22-win season brought to the franchise, and the Spurs are super thankful for that.

However, looking at the team as a whole, Bleacher Report doesn't like them over many teams at their current juncture. Bleacher Report parked the Spurs at No. 27 in its latest power rankings.

"Victor Wembanyama has superstar potential, but he's not likely to join that tier in his first NBA season," Bleacher Report writes. "It'll take some time, and the San Antonio Spurs feel like the right team to shepherd his development. But that also means San Antonio is probably on course for at least another year or two of collecting more losses than wins."

While there is a lot of hope, the Spurs have a long way to go before they should be considered as a competitive team. Almost every egg is being put in Wembanyama's basket, and as it should. Wembanyama is a generational prospect. However, if his health takes a hit, it could spell trouble for the Spurs.

Once there are stronger players around Wembanyama, then there will be an opportunity for the Spurs to move up the NBA power rankings.
