OFFICIAL: Spurs Arena Changes Name to Frost Bank Center
Frost Bank Center is now the official home of the San Antonio Spurs.
After over 15 years of playing on the floor of the AT&T Center and over 20 years in the venue itself, the San Antonio Spurs will reportedly be calling their home arena Frost Bank Center.
"The Spurs will begin work this month to update arena signage within and outside the Frost Bank Center, including marquee signage, ticket towers, center court jumbotron and other marketing materials," the team said via press release. "The majority of these in-arena and outside signage changes will be made before the start of the season."
Along with the new name, the Spurs arena is debuting a new "Puro Meter," per Locked On Spurs host Jeff Garcia.
"Starting with the 2023-24 season, the Frost Bank Center will feature the newly unveiled Frost Club, w/ a “Puro Meter” corridor mural and game-day interactive light show that changes with the volume of fan noise inside the arena bowl," Garcia tweeted.
The franchise's arena sponsor agreement with AT&T expired in 2021. As for Frost Bank, the company has been a long-time supporter since the ABA days when the Spurs were known as the Dallas Chaparrals. Frost was also the first jersey patch sponsor for the team in 2018.
The Spurs have called the arena home since 2002 when it opened up as the SBC Center. The name changed to AT&T Center in 2006, even experiencing arena-wide renovations in 2016.
The name change comes as rookie star Victor Wembanyama enters the fold for the Spurs. He and the team will look to make it successful first season at Frost Bank Center once the announcement is official.
