The San Antonio Spurs are going to have to head back to the drawing board after a blowout 119-84 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans Tuesday night at Smoothie King Center.

During the first five or so minutes of the game, the Spurs were keeping up with the Pelicans, but then things started to go south.

The Spurs scored just two points in the final seven minutes of the first quarter and surrendered 14 points to go down double digits early.

The bruising didn't stop in the second quarter after the Pelicans outscored the Spurs 37-23 in the quarter to take a 25-point lead into the locker room.

The Pelicans led by as much as 36 as they cruised to victory in the second half. New Orleans' leading scorer was Brandon Ingram, who dropped 32.

The loss was inexcusable, but the Spurs were playing without several key players. Charles Bassey, Khem Birch, Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell all sat out of the game with knee injuries, while Zach Collins also got the night off to rest.

If there was a lone bright spot for the Spurs, it was new acquisition Sandro Mamukelashvili, who scored a team-high 20 points on 7 of 14 shooting from the field.

The Spurs will have to bounce back quickly because they face the NBA-best Milwaukee Bucks tomorrow night at Fiserv Forum. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
